Hi there,
I have done some research during this month, and I would love to share some videos that I have found very helpful.
There are three videos in total that I have found.
The first one is "Why are refugees good for the economy?" by International Rescue committee.
The link to the video is provided below:
This video mentions that from the recent study from Lebanon, for every dollar a refugee spend, $2.13 goes back to the economy. The video also mentions the helps the IRC has given out to the refugees to start their own businesses.
The International Rescue Committee is a nongovernmental organization, humanitarian aid, relief and development.
The second video is "Can the US Economy survive without immigration?" by CNBC.
The link to the video is provided below:
This video talks about the Immigration policies that President Trump has set, and how that limits the number of legal and illegal workers in the US. They state that by signing the executive order, people who support less immigration feel it is better for the native workers, but immigrants and temporary immigrants became a bigger source of labor force in the US economy. Foreign workers account for 17.4% of the total workforce, therefore, pro immigration experts argue that the foreign workers will play a vital role in US economy, working jobs that are not wanted, or incapable by the natives. They also mention that immigrants do not replace the native workers, by providing agricultural sector as an example. The video also cites the ACLU's study, that immigrants pay more than 90 billion dollars in taxes annually, while receiving only $5 billion in welfare. Video mentions the experts saying that blocking the immigration could allow other countries to gain competitive edge in the global market. Overall, there are much more benefit for immigration to the US economy.
The last video is "The Economic Benefits of Immigration" by Yale school of Management.
The link to the video is provided below:
This video is made to talk about the logic behind the economic benefits of immigration. Professor Mobarak says when immigrants come, they do not perfectly substitute for a native worker. Instead, they often take jobs that are not wanted by the native workers. He also mentions that migrant labor can be a complement to the natives. The video explains the topic in more details and examples.
